in Space Exploration

NASA has announced an exciting opportunity for university teams to participate in the 2026 Revolutionary Aerospace Systems Concepts – Academic Linkage (RASC-AL) Competition. This competition is designed to inspire innovation in lunar and Martian exploration. It focuses on engaging students in the development of aerospace concepts that address important topics related to sustained exploration of the Moon and Mars.

University teams that enter this competition will have the chance to work on projects that align with real NASA challenges. These projects require students to employ their engineering, science, and technical skills to develop solutions that are applicable to future space missions. The competition offers several themes that teams can choose from, allowing students to focus on areas that interest them the most. Some of the exciting themes include:

  • Infrastructure Development for Lunar and Martian Surfaces
  • Human-Robotic Interaction for Efficient Operations
  • Utilization of In-Situ Resources
  • Advanced Habitation Concepts

The RASC-AL Competition is an annual event that gives students the opportunity to engage with NASA experts, gain valuable experience, and potentially contribute innovative ideas that could support future NASA missions. Participation in this competition is also a significant opportunity for students to improve their skills and enhance their resumes for future aerospace careers. The competition fosters creativity, teamwork, and hands-on experience, which are crucial for the development of the next generation of aerospace explorers.
